A rare chance to see a unique collaboration between the Los Angeles Guild of Puppetry and the Pasadena Community Orchestra. The Pasadena Community Orchestra, conducted by Bethany Pflueger, brings this favorite piece to the great outdoors. Known worldwide, The Light Cavalry Overture is a classic musical tale of the battlefield, with bravery, sacrifice, death and valor. Inspired by the flags and banners often carried by Cavalries of old, this production combines the live orchestra with large puppets of silk and paper, under the direction of Robin Walsh. More abstract than figurative, the puppets, constructed mostly of flowing fabrics, leap, prance, and practically fly – reveling in the grandeur of the music.
